Tutorial with Helena

The time we had for our tutorial with Helena went so quickly! We spoke about what we had seen at SACRED and she commented on how it seemed we were interested in the body at the moment. We agreed this was true.  She recommended some pieces of work and artists that we should look into:

Carolee Schneemann – fuses

Marina Abramović and Ulay – (particularly Great Wall of China and Expansion in Space)

Pipilotti Rist – Pickelporno

She also recommended, although it was not something we were edging towards, to go to the LADA and look at the ‘one two one study guide’ to explore different, extreme interactions with audiences.

Helena’s main piece of advice was, before we start devising, to make a comprehensible list of questions that we want to develop, explore, expand on and attempt to answer. She advised to make the questions as challenging as possible, as difficult, intimate and probing as we can.

We will watch these pieces, research these artists and start questioning!
